Amid the AI hype, a new data science conference offers room to breathe
Anyone interested in what’s happening within Danish data science now has plenty of options. Conferences, meetups, and summits are everywhere—but their programs can sometimes feel a little thin, or weighed down by commercial interests.
D3A, however, is starting to stand out. The conference is carving out a role as a genuine scientific breathing space, where researchers actively take part—alongside professionals from industry and the public sector. Here, commercial agendas take a back seat, leaving room for discussions of the latest ideas and developments across the many subfields of data science.
D3A stands for Danish Digitalization, Data Science, and AI. Its academic tone is no coincidence: the conference is organized by some of Denmark’s most central academic institutions in the field, including the Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence, the Danish Data Science Academy, and the Digital Research Center Denmark—better known as DIREC.
Now in its third year, D3A runs annually across two days (three, if you count the opening career day). DataTech attended the first day of this year’s conference.
