Workshop

Open Source & Open Science enthusiasts meetup

Tuesday 26 August 15.00

Organizer: Anastassia Vybornova, IT University of Copenhagen

Calling all open source & open science enthusiasts: let us dedicate 90 minutes to forging community bonds across sectors and disciplines, and exchanging inspirations & best practice examples. No PowerPoint involved! Instead of a traditional presentation session, we invited several fellow enthusiasts to play the role of community organizers for this session.

Each of them will give a 60-second elevator pitch on their topic of choice and passion (e.g., FAIR data, data sharing practices in the public sector, Open Science, open-source software
development, industry involvement in OS practices, …). Then we will split up in smaller groups – one for each topic, facilitated by the community organizers. Participants can choose which of the groups to join, and may switch between groups if they are interested in more than one topic.

Our main wish for this session is for people to get together, get to know each other, and widen their open source & open science network. By the end of the session your LinkedIn & GitHub follower count will increase in the same extent as your contributing motivation to OS&OS. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Tentative topics that community organizers (names TBD) can cover:

  • Crowd-sourcing science
  • Open-source software & community building
  • Open-source alternatives to commercial platforms
  • Data sharing: best practices
  • Data privacy
  • Knowledge building around high-performance computing

If you have a topic suggestion of your own, we’re happy to add it in!
