Robotics Opportunities and Perils in the Age of AI

Robots are heavily dependent on software, and the increasing adoption of Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-based tools is transforming how such software is developed. AI offers significant opportunities, including automated code generation, debugging assistance, rapid prototyping, requirements support, documentation, and increased developer productivity.
However, it also introduces risks related to software quality, reliability, maintainability, security, energy efficiency, and the propagation of incorrect or non-transparent solutions. These challenges are particularly critical in robotics, where software failures can result in unpredictable behaviour, safety risks, and damage to people, infrastructure, or the environment.
The goal of this workshop is to present the current state of AI-driven robotics software development and foster discussion within the Danish research community about its opportunities, challenges, impacts, and emerging good practices. In particular, the workshop will explore how AI can support the development of trustworthy, sustainable, safe, and efficient robotic systems, while addressing the technical debt, ethical concerns, and engineering challenges arising from increasing reliance on AI-assisted software engineering.
