Workshop
Hackathon: Unified Data Analytics with Apache Wayang
Wednesday 23 October 10.30
Organizer: Zoi Kaoudi, IT University of Copenhagen
Research and industry have developed a variety of data systems that enable users to extract value from their data efficiently, with each system excelling in different aspects. Selecting the right system, however, is often daunting resulting in running data analytics at a higher cost than necessary. Furthermore, modern applications in the data science and AI sectors often require data analytics that go beyond the limits of a single platform, making the selection of systems even more difficult.
Apache Wayang (Incubating) is the first open-source framework that unifies data systems alleviating users from the need of system selection. It decouples applications from platforms so that they can run analytics on one or more platforms seamlessly and efficiently.
In this way, Wayang acts as a catalyst for the digitalization of societies and industries where efficiently extracting data insights is crucial. In this workshop, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on hackathon focused on Wayang, where we will present its architecture and guide the audience in building example applications.
