Marie Helene is the Managing Director of DDSA and sets the direction in collaboration with the DDSA Board of Directors. She engages with DDSA panels and committees as well as the wider data science community from academia, industry, and the public sector.

Marie Helene holds a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Copenhagen and has over 20 years of experience in the biotech sector and pharmaceutical industry. She has extensive knowledge in data science and strategic leadership, driving the digital, data, and AI agenda at Ferring Pharmaceuticals and LEO Pharma.

Serge is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen and director of the Pioneer Centre for AI. Previously, he was the Andrew H. and Ann R. Tisch Professor of Computer Science at Cornell Tech where he also served as Associate Dean. He has also been a member of the Visiting Faculty program at Google.

He is known for his contributions to the fields of computer vision and machine learning, specifically object recognition and image segmentation, and he has co-founded several startups in those areas. He also serves as a board member of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems.

Thomas is the director of Digital Research Centre Denmark (DIREC), a national center focused on promoting research, innovation, and education in digital technologies.

He holds a PhD in computer science, is a former entrepreneur, and is an angel investor in several tech startups.

Toine is associate professor at IT University of Copenhagen, Department of Computer Science. As part of his position, he serves part-time as the Chief Scientific Officer at the AI Pioneer Centre. Toine also retains a part-time position as associate professor at Aalborg University Copenhagen, where he is a member of the Science, Policy and Information Studies research group at the Dept. of Communication and Psychology at the Faculty of Humanities.

His general research interests concern applying information access technologies to unlocking large information collections (e.g., recommender systems, search engines, and other AI-supported applications) and studying information behavior — how people interact with information and their devices. In his research he takes both a user-centered and system-centered perspective on information access technology.
